In this
post, I’ll be teaching you guys how to create a simple Face Off composition
using simple Photoshop techniques. Read on and create your own face mask - with
your own face!
What you’ll
need:
- your own photography equipment
- a photo editing software like Photoshop
- a model (or yourself) as subject
- patience
Preparing
the shots:
- Setup your photo equipment and prepare your model for a surgery. Okay I’m kidding you can laugh now. Ha. Ha. Ha.
- Take the shots. You’ll be needing two shots for this composition. The first one is a photo of your subject not showing the hand that you want to hold the “face mask.” The second shot is a photo of the subject holding his/her face with the hand that wasn’t shown in the first shot.
- Set aside the photos. We’ll now go to post-processing.
Post-processing:
- Use the first shot as the base photo. Open it in Photoshop.
- Open the second shot in Photoshop as well. Erase all the parts of the photo except for the face and the hand holding the face. You may use the pen tool, eraser, or even the magic wand tool to do this. Make sure that you clean up the edges well! After doing so you should come up with something like this:
- Copy the second shot and paste it to the base photo (first shot). You’ll then have something like this:
- Adjust the size of the second shot so that it’ll match the size of the face in the base photo. Position it to where you want the mask to be in your composition.
- Add some shadows. Adjust the colors. Do your thing in post processing. After all the adjustments, you should have a composition like this:
